The 5-part brief that turns generic AI answers into drafts you can use

Ai Writing | The Brief

If your AI answers feel flat, the tool is rarely the whole problem. The brief is. 'Write a blog post about budgeting' gets you the average of every budgeting post ever written. A brief with five parts gets you something close to a usable first draft. Here is the one we would use in any AI chat or writer, including the one inside ArgonMAX AI.

Per the vendor, ArgonMAX AI is a cloud workspace with AI chat, a writer, a code generator, 100+ templates and expert personas, chat with PDF, an image and video studio, a bulk generator and a model switcher, for a $17 one-time launch price with a 30-day refund. Our review includes a manual walkthrough by our founder, who rates it as good, but this article is about the method, not the output. The brief works whichever tool you pick.

The five parts

  • Role: who should the AI be? 'A friendly personal-finance writer for people paying off a first credit card.' This is what an expert persona does for you, so a persona or template is a ready-made role.
  • Reader: who is it for and what do they already know? 'Beginners who feel guilty about spending.'
  • Task: exactly what to produce. 'A 500-word post with a short story at the start.'
  • Limits: what to avoid and how long. 'No jargon. No promises about money. Short paragraphs.'
  • Example: a few lines in the voice you want, or a sample of your own writing.

Before and after

Before: 'Write a post about budgeting.' After: 'You are a friendly personal-finance writer. The reader is a beginner who feels guilty about spending. Write a 500-word post that starts with a short, relatable moment, gives three simple steps, uses no jargon and makes no promises about results. Match the tone of this sample: ...'

The second version takes 30 seconds longer to write and saves several rounds of 'make it warmer, shorter, less robotic'.

Where templates fit

A template is a brief someone else wrote. It is a good starting point because it covers parts of the structure for you. But it knows nothing about your reader or your example, so those are the two parts to add every time.

A check before you publish anything

  • Is there a real example, name or detail in it that only you could add?
  • Are the facts right? AI can sound sure about things that are wrong.
  • Would you be comfortable if the reader knew how it was made?

If you are trying an all-in-one tool inside a refund window, run the same brief through it and through the tool you use now. Compare the first drafts side by side. That test costs nothing and tells you more than any feature list.

Our ArgonMAX AI review lists the price, every upgrade and where the vendor's pages disagree. Image and video generation needs credits, per the vendor's own bonus note, which is worth knowing before you plan around it.
